SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE REVIEW
Definition:
A scientific literature review can simply be defined as the summary of previously published catalogs of main (primary) research and, ideally, offers fresh perspectives in expanding the knowledge base and understanding of a particular field of study.
WHY Literature Review?
1. It summarizes the subject matter, with a focus on current developments.
2. It collates the most important original papers (peer-reviewed) pertinent to the selected subject area.
3. It helps the scientific community to save time in hunting for specific/important information as regards a subject matter.
4. It highlights significant unanswered questions in a research area/subject matter.
5. It helps to decide where to begin a deeper investigation in a subject area or similar research area.
6. Etc.
Note:
1 Excellent Literature Review = 100s of Primary Research Papers.
