Onward towards exploits in RNA medicine.

About Me

I graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Human Physiology, where I researched neurobehavioral activities in castrated Wistar rats using a range of research techniques. I then obtained my master’s degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where I explored the ameliorative potentials of combined treatment of vitamin E and testosterone on diabetes-induced dyslipidemia, beta cell necrosis, and reduced sperm count and sperm motility in animal models of diabetes using various scientific techniques before leaving for the pharmaceutical industry.

While in the pharmaceutical industry, I had the opportunity to undergo professional development training in leadership and management in health with the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. In my seven years of being in the pharmaceutical industry, I experienced the realities of how scientific research makes the lives of people better, either through the treatment of diseased conditions or in better management of those conditions.

However, I decided to explore the research side of medicine. To reach this goal, I will need a Ph.D., as well as suitable research training and experience. I opted for the doctoral research position opportunity at the Center for RNA Medicine of the International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, where I am:

(i). investigating the role of germline RNAs in shaping the flow of epigenetic information. I will be using interdisciplinary strategies to create alternative model organisms to explore germ cell properties.

(ii). elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying the functional roles of non-coding RNAs in testicular germ-cell tumor development and metastases, and possible precision diagnostic and therapeutic strategies
